GRAFTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team competed on Sunday in an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 event hosted by Boston College at the Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center in Grafton.
The Bears placed third in the team standings at the show.
Freshman Ashley Crosby (Littleton, Mass.) started out the day with a second place ribbon in open flat on Arisa, a 16.2 hand roan mare. Crosby then piloted Scooby, a 15.3 hand gelding, through a intermediate over fences course placing third.
Freshman Sophia Barnard (Halifax, Mass.) rode Arisa to a sixth place finish in a strong open fences class.
Senior Sydney Hawes (Pembroke, Mass.) guided Ghetti, a 15.2 warmblood mare, to an blue ribbon in limit fences. Hawes also rode Pablo to a fourth place showing in limit flat.
Sophomore Katherine Ryan (Mendon, Mass.) jumped around on Chance, a 16.2 bay gelding, in limit fences finishing fourth.
Sophomore Madison Elliott (Centerville, Mass.) rode Champ, a 15.2 hand paint gelding, to a second place ribbon in intermediate flat.
Freshman Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) piloted Chance in novice flat to a second place ribbon.
Sophomore Abby Lucas (Pembroke, Mass.) rode Dillon, a 15.2 chestnut gelding, to a second place ribbon in a tough novice flat class. In the same class, freshman Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) placed fourth aboard Ghetti.
Junior Emily Wolfe (East Bridgewater, Mass.) captured top honors in novice flat aboard Scooby. Wolfe has now pointed out and qualified for regionals.
Junior Abigail Adams (Webster, Mass.) guided Dillon to a second place ribbon in introductory.
The BSU equestrian team will wrap up the fall portion of the 2019-2020 schedule next Sunday (Nov. 17) when the Bears head to the Karen Stives '68 Equestrian Center in Wellesley for a show hosted by Babson College.
