BOLTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team competed on Saturday in an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 event co-hosted by Bentley University and Wheaton College at Century Mill Stables in Bolton.
Freshman Ashley Crosby (Littleton, Mass.) started the day with a beautiful ride on Trendy, a 16 hand Belgian Warmblood, placing fourth in intermediate over fences. She got back on Trendy and rode to another fourth place ribbon in open flat.
Sophomore Madison Elliott (Centerville, Mass.) guided Luna, a 16.2 grey warmblood, to a sixth place ribbon in intermediate flat.
Sophomore Katherine Ryan (Mendon, Mass.) piloted Trendy to a fourth place performance in intermediate flat. Ryan had her debut in limit fences on Holly, a 17.3 bay pinto warmblood, placing fifth.
Senior Sydney Hawes (Pembroke, Mass.) also rode Holly in limit fences placing second. Hawes then piloted Ana, a 15.3 bay warmblood, to a fifth place ribbon in limit flat.
Senior Jeanna Meloni (Falmouth, Mass.) guided Lantana, a 16.2 warmblood, to a fifth place ribbon in limit flat. Meloni pointed out and has now qualified for regionals both over fences and on the flat.
Junior Emily Wolfe (East Bridgewater, Mass.) piloted North, a 16 hand warmblood, to a beautiful second place ride in Novice flat.
Freshman Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) guided Holly through a Novice flat class placing third.
Junior Emily Adams (Plympton, Mass.) rode Fergus, a 15.2 buckskin quarter horse, to a fourth place ribbon in novice. Adams has now pointed out and qualified for regionals! In the same class, freshman Ashley Drake had her IHSA debut on Fax, a 15 hand paint, placing sixth in a tough class.
Junior Abigail Adams (Webster, Mass.) piloted Master to a fourth place ribbon in Introductory.
The Bears, who placed seventh in the team standings, wrap up the weekend of competition on Sunday as the squad hosts their first show of the season at Legacy Stables in Middleboro.
