Sean Riley Named to NEIBA All-New England Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior second baseman Sean Riley has been selected to the 2013 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division III All-New England Team.  A first team selection in 2012, Riley garnered second team honors this season.

A native of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Riley batted .383 (49-128) in 34 games for the Bears in 2013 with five home runs and 30 runs batted in.  He also recorded nine doubles, a pair of triples, 26 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

Riley led the MASCAC in home runs, total bases (77) and slugging percentage (.602), and ranked second in the conference in hits and RBI.  He was also fourth in the circuit in both doubles and batting average and sixth in on base percentage (.452).

In just two seasons with the Bears, Riley finished his career with a .378 batting average (11-294) to go along with 13 home runs, 34 doubles, eight triples, 17 stolen bases, 78 runs scored and 70 RBI.  He ranks second in program history in both doubles and extra base hits (55).

The Bridgewater State baseball team posted a record of 19-14-1 in 2013 including an 8-6 mark in conference play.  Seeded fifth in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears ended the season with an 8-7, 11-inning loss to fourth-seeded Worcester State University in the tournament’s opening round.
