BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (Oct. 13-19) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
TUESDAY
WOMEN'S TENNIS, at Salem State, 3:00 PM: The Bears put a five-match winning streak on the line when they face the Vikings.
BSU is 7-4 and 5-1 in the Little East Conference while Salem State is 4-3 and 3-3 in the conference.
The Bears, who are 3-0 on the road, defeated the Vikings, 9-0, last season.
FIELD HOCKEY, at Salem State, 4:00 PM: The Bears are 5-0 on the road this season and are 10-2 overall, 6-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.
BSU, on a three-game winning streak, defeated the Vikings on Sept. 19, 10-1.
Salem State is 5-6 and 3-4 in the MASCAC with two straight wins.
MEN'S SOCCER, at home, UMass Dartmouth, 7:00 PM: It will be Senior Night at Mazzaferro Field as the Bears play their next-to-last home game.
The Bears are 7-5-1, including 3-2 at home, while the Corsairs are 6-5-1.
BSU has won the last three meetings with the Corsairs and has a 27-12-6 record in the series.
FRIDAY
VOLLEYBALL, at home, UMass Dartmouth, 5:00 PM: The Bears are 5-0 at the Tinsley Center entering their next-to-last non-conference match.
BSU is riding a four-match winning streak and is 10-3.
The Corsairs are 14-6 with eight straight wins and have defeated the Bears in the last two meetings.
SATURDAY
FIELD HOCKEY, at home, Anna Maria, Noon: The Bears defeated the AMCATS earlier this season, 6-1, with Abbie Zuber and Samantha Souza each scoring two goals with an assist.
Anna Maria, a newcomer to the MASCAC, is 1-11.
MEN'S SOCCER, at Coast Guard, Noon: The teams meet for the first time in a decade as BSU finishes its non-conference schedule.
The Bears and Coast Guard played in the 2015 Southern Maine Husky Invitational with BSU winning, 2-0. They also met in that tournament in 2014 with BSU losing, 1-0.
Coast Guard is 7-2-3 with two straight wins. The game takes place in New London, Conn.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY, at the Connecticut College Invitational, Noon: The Bears travel to Waterford, Conn., for the annual meet at the Harkness Memorial State Park.
Last season, Naomi Cass was the first MASCAC finisher and was 69th overall in a field of 277 runners.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY, at the Connecticut College Invitational, 1:00 PM: The Bears tune up for the Nov. 1 MASCAC Championships with a meet in Waterford, Conn.
BSU was 24th in a field of 35 teams last season with Kevin McBirney the top Bears' finisher. He was 74th out of 269 runners and first among MASCAC runners.
WOMEN'S TENNIS, at Plymouth State, 1:00 PM: The Bears play their 13th and final match of the regular season.
BSU has a five-match winning streak over the Panthers, who begin the week 2-7 and 1-5 in the Little East.
The conference tournament starts Oct. 21 with the semifinal round on Oct. 23 and the final on Oct. 25.
FOOTBALL, at home, Dean College, 4:00 PM: The Bears and Bulldogs meet for the first time on Homecoming Weekend at Mazzaferro Field.
BSU is playing three of its next four games at home. The Bears are 1-4 and 1-3 in the MASCAC with three losses in a row.
Dean, a first-year member of the MASCAC, is 0-5 and 0-4 in the conference. The Bulldogs had previously been in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference.
SUNDAY
EQUESTRIAN, at the Century Mill Stables, 9:00 AM: the Bears begin the fall semester portion of the season by taking part in a show hosts by Brandeis University in Bolton, Mass.
BSU will be in five shows between this one and Nov. 16.
