BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (Feb. 2-8) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
WEDNESDAY
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at Salem State, 5:00 PM: The Bears visit Twohig Gym to face the Vikings to closes out the season series.
BSU defeated Salem State, 59-51, on Jan. 10 at the Tinsley Center as freshman Emilie von der Linden (Sanbornville, N.H.) had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bears (9-9) lead the MASCAC with an 8-0 record while the Vikings (9-10) are 5-3 in the conference and 7-3 at home.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at Salem State, 7:00 PM: The Bears seek to end a two-game losing streak when they face the Vikings at Twohig Gym.
Salem State defeated BSU on the road on Jan. 10, 89-75, and is 11-8 overall, 4-4 in the MASCAC.
The Bears are tied with the Vikings are 4-4 and are 6-13 overall.
FRIDAY
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD, at the River Hawks Invitational, 9:00 AM: The Bears travel to The Track at New Balance in Boston for a meet hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
BSU will be going against competitors from Divisions I and II schoola along with other Division III entrants.
SATURDAY
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD, at the River Hawks Invitational, 9:00 AM: BSU will be represented at the meet hosted by UMass Lowell at The Track at New Balance.
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD, at the Wheaton Invitational, 10:00 AM: BSU will be sending athletes to the Beard Field House in Norton for a meet hosted by Wheaton College.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD, at the Wheaton Invitational, 10:00 AM: The Bears finish the weekend by taking part in a meet hosted by Wheaton College.
WRESTLING, tri-meet in New York, 11 and 12:45:
The Bears will be at the Paulson Center in New York City to face a pair of nationally ranked teams.
BSU will go against host New York University, ranked 15th in the Division III poll with a 19-3 record. at 11 a.m., and the Coast Guard Academy, which is No. 21, at 12:45 p.m.
NYU and Coast Guard will square off at 2:30 p.m..
The Bears lost to both teams in a tri-match at the Coast Guard last season.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Anna Maria, Noon: It will be Senior Day and Alumni Day at the Tinsley Center when the Bears host the AMCATS.
BSU defeated Anna Maria, 82-66, on Jan. 14 with senior Haley Burchhardt (Schenectady, N.Y.) scoring 20 points.
Anna Maria, in its first season in the MASCAC, is 6-11 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Anna Maria, 2:00 PM: The Bears will be bidding for a season series sweep of the AMCATS, who are 5-13 and 2-6 in the MASCAC.
BSU won the opener on the road on Jan. 14, 82-66, when Dante Kikuba (Framingham, Mass.) scored 25 points.
