BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (Jan. 19-25) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
WEDNESDAY
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Westfield State, 5:30 PM: The Bears, riding a four-game winning streak, host the Owls, who have won three in a row.
BSU (5-9) is off to a 4-0 start in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, one game ahead of Westfield State (11-4, 3-1 MASCAC), Framingham State and Salem State.
The Bears swept the Owls last season, winning three times, including in the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Westfield State, 7:30 PM: The Bears, with back-to-back wins for the first time this season, take on the Owls, who are 11-4 and 3-1 in the MASCAC.
BSU and Westfield State split two games last season, the Bears winning by three points and losing by four.
BSU is 5-10 overall and 3-1 in the MASCAC.
SATURDAY
WRESTLING, at the Wildcat Open, 9:30 AM: The Bears travel to Providence, R.I., for a touranment hosted by Johnson & Wales.
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD, at the Gordon Kelly Invitational, 9:30 AM: The Bears will travel to Cambridge, Mass., for a meet hosted by MIT at the Johnson Athletic Center Track.
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD, at the Gordon Kelly Invitational, 9:30 AM: BSU will be represented at the Johnson Athletic Center Track in a meet hosted by MIT.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING, at Babson College, 11:00 AM: The Bears lost at Babson a year ago, 212-83.
Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) won twice last season, the 1 and 3-meter diving events.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING, at Babson College, 11:00 AM: The Bears dropped a 190-44 decision against Babson in the 2024-25 season.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at Framingham State, Noon: The Bears and Rams, who met in the MASCAC title game last season, square off.
BSU defeated Framingham State, 76-65, for the conference championship last season and went 3-0 against the Rams.
Framingham State enters the week 7-8 overall and 3-1 in the MASCAC, a game behind the Bears.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at Framingham State, 2:00 PM: The Bears lost to the Rams in the quarterfinal round of the MASCAC tourney last winter, 63-60, after the teams split the regular-season games.
Framingham State is 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference, a game behind BSU.
SUNDAY
WRESTLING, at the New England Wrestling Association Dual Meet, 9:30 AM: The Bears return to Johsnon & Wales for a second straight day, this time for the NEWA meet.
BSU finished 13th last season, going 2-2 with wins over Norwich and New England College after losing to Roger Williams and Johnson & Wales.
