Week Ahead: Monday, Mar. 3 to Sunday, Mar. 9

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (March 10-16) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:

MONDAY

SOFTBALL, King's College, 1:00 PM; Penn College, 5:00 PM: The Bears play their second doubleheader at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Little River, S.C.

In the opener, BSU takes on King's, located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference.

The Monarchs' season opener is in the morning while the Bears are 1-1.

BSU goes against Penn College of Williamsport, Pa., in the nightcap.

The Wildcats, of the United East Conference, were off to a 3-2 start entering Sunday night.

BASEBALL, Penn College, 1:30 PM: The Bears (0-4) seek their first win when they meet the Wildcats at Pelicans Stadium.

BSU has dropped its first three games in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Penn College is off to a 1-4 start.

TUESDAY

WOMEN'S LACROSSE, Husson University, 12:30 PM: The Bears begin a two-game trip to Hilton Head, S.C., by going against the Eagles.

BSU had a four-game winning streak stopped last Friday by Southern Maine while Husson is 1-2.

BASEBALL, Hilbert College, 12:30 PM: The Bears and the Hawks of Hamburg, N.Y., meet for the fourth time in four years at Myrtle Beach.

BSU lost to Hilbert, 9-7, last season. The Hawks are 3-2 this season.

WEDNESDAY

BASEBALL, Penn State Berks, 9:00 AM: The Bears have won four straight games over the Lions, all in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Penn State Berks, of Reading, Pa., is 1-6 this season. The Bears defeated the Lions, 9-2, last year.

SOFTBALL, Minnesota Morris, 11:00 AM; FDU-Florham, 1:00 PM: The Bears resume the schedule after having a day off.

BSU will meet Minnesota-Morris in the opener. The Cougars (0-4) met in 2015 in Fort Myers, Fla., with the Bears losing, 6-1.

In the afternoon, BSU goes against Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, located in Madison, N.J.

FDU-Florham is off to a 2-3 start.

THURSDAY

WOMEN'S LACROSSE, FDU-Florham, 9:30 AM: The Bears play their final game in Hilton Head, S.C., taking on the Devils (0-1).

BSU will be idle after this until March 19 when it hosts Coast Guard.

SOFTBALL, Penn State-Beaver, 1:00 PM; Penn State-Abington, 5:00 PM: The Bears play a pair of Pennsylvania teams on their next-to-last day in South Carolina.

In the opener, BSU goes against the Lions of Monaca, Pa., who are 0-2.

The second game will be against Penn State-Abington, which opens the season on Monday in South Carolina.

BASEBALL, WPI, 6:30 PM: The Bears go against an opponent from Massachusetts at Ebbets Field in Myrtle Beach.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, is 1-2.

The Bears and Engineers will also play on March 22 in Northboro, Mass.

FRIDAY

BASEBALL, Cairn University, Noon: The Bears conclude their stay in Myrtle Beach, S.C., by playing the Highlanders of Langhorne, Pa.

Cairn is off to a 3-1 start. BSU will play at Dean College on March 19 when it returns home.

SOFTBALL, Centenary, 1:00 PM; Gwymedd Mercy, 3:00 PM: The Bears play a doubleheader on their final day in South Carolina.

The opener is against Centenary University of Hackettstown, N.J. The Cyclones lost their first two games this season.

In the finale, BSU faces Gwymedd Mercy University of Gwynedd Valley, Pa.

Friday & Saturday

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: The men's and women's teams will be represented at the NCAA Division III Championships, to be held over two days.

The event is hosted by Nazareth University and will take place at the Golisano Training Center in Rochester, N.Y.

The meet begins at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday with the final event starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Graduate student Alison McDonough (60-Meter Hurdles) and seniors Kiara Abrantes (400-Meter Dash) and Serenity Sands (High Jump) qualified for the national championship meet on the women's side while senior Kevin McBirney (800-Meter Run) and freshman Alex Huynh (Stoughton, Mass.) qualified from the men's team.
