PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Joe Marmion made 20 saves while Joe McCadden potted four goals, leading Bridgewater State over Central Connecticut State, 9-7, for the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League Division II championship.
As the regular season champions, Bridgewater State earned a bid to the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held in Orange County, Calif., from May 8-13. This will be the Bears second trip to nationals.
Bridgewater jumped on the Blue Devils early, posting a 4-0 first quarter and still led 5-2 at the break. Central Conn. outscored the Bears, 5-4, in the second half, but the Devils couldn’t mount a sustained comeback.
The Bears were seeded 12th in the MCLA National Championship bracket and will face No. 5 Grand Valley State in the first round on Monday.

IRVINE, Calif. -- The 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour begin on Monday, May 8 with eight Division II games.
The first D-II session begins at 11 a.m. PDT with the second commencing at 1:45 p.m.
