Rouillard, McPherson to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Juniors Molly Rouillard and Michael McPherson have earned spots to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Southern California.  The national championship meet will take place on Thursday, May 24th, Friday, May 25th and Saturday, May 26th.

Rouillard is seeded 21st in the 10,000-meter run which is scheduled for Thursday at 9:20 PM Eastern Standard Time.  The Dartmouth, Massachusetts native recorded her national qualifying and school record-setting time of 36:19.51 at the New England Division III Championships on May 3rd.  Rouillard eclipsed the Bears' 30-year old mark of 36:21.98 set by Debbie Mueller in 1982.

McPherson posted a second place finish in the shot put at the ECAC Championships this past weekend with a toss of 54 feet, 11.25 inches to secure the 13th seed at the national meet.  The Mansfield, Massachusetts native shattered his own school record by two feet. McPherson will compete on Saturday at 7:05 PM Eastern.

Both Rouillard and McPherson are making their first appearances at the NCAA Championships.

It is the first time in four years that the Bears' have multiple student-athletes competing at the outdoor championships.  Former standouts Rachel Smith and Nicole Mauro qualified in the 400-meter hurdles and 5,000-meter run, respectively, in 2008.
