BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Sarah Lagasse has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Lagasse posted a time of 11:26.32 to finish first in the steeplechase at the BSU Bears Invitational as she broke her own school mark of 11:42.33 set just last season. The Rehoboth, Massachusetts native also qualified in the event for three postseason meets, Division III New Englands, ECAC Championships and NEICAAA Championships.
In addition to the steeplechase, Lagasse also ran a leg on the Bears’ first place 4 x 400-meter relay (4:09.13) along with fellow seniors Co Davis (Mansfield, Mass.) and Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, Mass.) and junior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.).
Since arriving at Bridgewater State in 2009, Lagasse has had a hand in seven school track records including four indoor (1,000-meter run, 4x400, 4x800, distance medley relay) and three outdoor (steeplechase, 4x400, 4x800).
The BSU outdoor track and field teams will compete at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday.
