BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Jenna Williamson has been selected as the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Williamson went unbeaten at first flight singles and double play as the Bears opened the 2012 season with wins over Gordon College and Little East foes Plymouth State University and Worcester State University last week.
Williamson, who hails from Ludlow, Massachusetts, defeated two of her three singles opponents in straight-sets while rallying from a set down to defeat her opponent from Plymouth State. She also teamed with senior Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) to post a perfect 3-0 mark at the top doubles spot.
In three seasons with the Bears, Williamson has produced an impressive 29-3 (.906) record in singles play including a perfect 22-0 mark versus Little East opponents. The 2011 conference Player of the Year also has a career 27-11 (.711) doubles record, 17-5 against LEC foes.
Williamson and the Bears return to the court on Tuesday afternoon when they host Suffolk University in a non-conference match at 3:30.
