Julie Kraby Named Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State junior Julie Kraby has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Kraby helped Bridgewater State earn victories over Western Connecticut State and Johnson & Wales this past week to improve the Bears’ record to 5-0 on the season. The junior from Wrentham, Mass. defeated each of her opponents in straight sets at third-flight singles and teamed with senior Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) to sport a 2-0 mark at second doubles.

Through five matches this season, Kraby has posted a 4-1 mark in both singles and doubles play and is unbeaten against Little East opponents.

In three seasons as a member of the BSU women’s tennis team, Kraby is 23-10 (.697) overall in singles competition and 24-11 (.686) in doubles play.  Last season she helped the Bears capture the Little East Tournament championship and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for just the second time in program history.

The BSU women’s tennis team will host three matches this week.  The Bears entertain Little East foes Rhode Island College on Tuesday (3:30 PM) and UMass Boston on Saturday (Noon), as well as non-conference rival Roger Williams University on Friday (3:30 PM).
