BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Melissa Flynn has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Flynn posted a 3-0 mark at number six singles to help Bridgewater State earn Little East victories over Worcester State, UMass Boston and Southern Maine this past week. The Stoneham, Massachusetts native defeated each of her opponents in straight sets and also paired with fellow freshman Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) to record three victories at third doubles.

Flynn is 9-1 in singles play this season and unbeaten in six Little East matches.  She has also teamed with Eramo to post a 10-2 record in doubles competition with a 6-0 LEC mark.

The BSU women's tennis is currently 9-1 on the season and 6-0 in the Little East.  The Bears, who are a half game ahead of the Salem State University in the conference standings, wrap up regular season play this week with a pair of conference matches.  Bridgewater travels to UMass Dartmouth on Thursday (3:30) and then head to Salem on Saturday (1:00) for the regular season finale.
