BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Rachael Eramo has been selected as the Little East Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week.
Eramo posted a 1-1 record at fifth flight singles and a 1-1 mark at third doubles as Bridgewater State went 1-1 last week, including an 8-1 Little East victory over Rhode Island College.
A native of Rowley, Massachusetts, Eramo breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win against her singles opponent from RIC and teamed with classmate Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, Mass.) for an 8-0 doubles victory over the Anchorwomen.
In seven singles matches this season, Eramo is 5-2 competing exclusively at the fifth flight with a 3-0 mark against Little East opponents. The Bears' third doubles team of Eramo and Flynn are 7-2 on the season with a 3-0 LEC record.
The BSU women's tennis team is currently 6-1 overall and 3-0 in Little East play. The Bears have four conference matches scheduled for this week beginning with a Tuesday afternoon (3:30) affair at UMass Dartmouth.
