BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Three Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Little East Conference Women’s Tennis All-Conference Team.
Freshmen Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) and Alison Joseph (Dartmouth, Mass.) and junior Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) garnered all-conference first team honors competing in singles play.
Williamson posted a record of 14-1 in her rookie season competing exclusively at the third singles flight. She was also a perfect 10-0 versus Little East opponents and ended the season on a 12-match winning streak.
Murphy also won each of her last 12 matches and finished with a 13-2 mark at number five singles including a 10-0 record versus the Little East.
Joseph took over the starting six flight singles job three matches into her freshman campaign and went a perfect 10-0 with eight of those wins coming against conference opponents.
All three were instrumental in the Bears’ Little East Conference Tournament championship run. In Bridgewater’s two tournament victories, the trio went a combined 5-0 in singles play.
Bridgewater went 14-1 during the fall portion of the schedule as the Bears set the program record for wins in a season. The previous mark of 13 was originally set in 1986 (13-1) and equaled in 1989 (13-0).
By virtue of the Little East Tournament championship, Bridgewater earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament which does not take place until next May.
