BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Five members of the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team have been named to the Winter 2012-2013 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team as announced by LEC Media Relations Director, Jack Holleran.

To earn a spot on the all-academic teams a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3, and be a full-time member of a varsity team.

Receiving the honor for the Bears are senior Rhiannon White (Falmouth, Mass.), junior Ariel Gillis (Blackstone, Mass.) and sophomores Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.), Christina Minich (Wellesley, Mass.) and Terry Mullen (Ashburnham, Mass.).  Both White and Gillis are making their second straight appearance on the all-academic team.

The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year.  While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), four BSU teams call the Little East home.  Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, women’s swimming and diving in the winter, and men’s tennis in the spring.
