2013 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team (PDF)
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Freshman midfielder Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) garnered Rookie of the Year honors to highlight Bridgewater State's seven representatives on the 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team.
Geary along with senior attack Jill Caramello (Duxbury, Mass.), senior midfielder Shelby Farland (Fiskdale, Mass.), senior defender Michelle Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.), junior midfielder Taylor Clancy (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore attack Riley Cachelin (Westwood, Mass.) earned first team honors, while freshman attach Alexis Hadcock (East Lyme, Conn.) was named to the second team.
Geary leads the MASCAC and ranks second in all of Division III with a school single-season record 175 draw controls. She is also second in the conference in ground balls (78), third in caused turnovers (35), sixth in assists (19), tied for seventh in scoring (59 pts.) and ninth in goals (40).
Caramello ranks fourth in the MASCAC in goals (47) and is tied for fourth in scoring (65 pts.) and tied for eighth in assists (18). Farland is tied for third in the conference in assists (22) and is ninth in caused turnovers (20), while Navoni lists fifth in ground balls (55) and eighth in caused turnovers (22).
Clancy leads the MASCAC and ranks sixth in all of Division III with 96 ground balls, and is tops in the league and ninth in Division III in caused turnovers with 47. She also ranks second in the conference in assists (23) and scoring (72), eighth in draws (41) and is tied for second in goals (49).
Cachelin is tied for second in goals (49), tied for third in assists (22) and ranks third in the MASCAC in scoring (71 pts.), while Hadcock leads the conference in assists with 29 and is tied for seventh in scoring with 59 points.
The BSU women's lacrosse team finished the regular season with an overall mark of 15-2, including a perfect 6-0 mark in MASCAC play. The top seed at this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears host Fitchburg State University in semifinal round play on Thursday evening at seven.
Bridgewater entered the 2013 campaign having won five straight New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Tournament championships. The Bears and the other six MASCAC teams left the NEWLA at the conclusion of the 2012 season as the MASCAC added women's lacrosse as a competing sport. BSU has also qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of the past three seasons.
