BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University junior midfielder Taylor Clancy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.
The MVP of the inaugural MASCAC Tournament, Clancy tallied ten goals and an assist to go along with eight ground balls, five draw controls and five caused turnovers as she helped lead the Bears to the tournament title. The Braintree, Massachusetts native scored five goals in the Bears’ 21-5 semifinal round win over Fitchburg State, as well as five goals in a 13-10 championships game triumph over Westfield State.
With the MASCAC Tournament championship, the BSU women’s lacrosse team advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fourth straight season and fifth time overall. The Bears (17-2) will travel to Bowdoin College to take on the eight-ranked Polar Bears (13-3) in opening round action on Wednesday night at seven.
In 19 games this season, Clancy has registered 59 goals and 24 assists for 83 points in addition to 104 ground balls, 46 draws and 52 caused turnovers. She ranks sixth in all of Division III in ground balls and ninth in caused turnovers.
In 58 games over three seasons with the Bears, Clancy has amassed 108 goals and 36 assists for 144 points. She also has 190 ground balls to her credit along with 153 draws and 97 caused turnovers. Clancy is fourth all-time at BSU with her 153 draws.
