BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Olivia Dziadyk has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
Dziadyk averaged 6.5 points, three rebounds and five assists while shooting 46% (5-11) from the floor at the Hat City Tournament this past weekend. The Wakefield, Massachusetts product notched a career-high ten points, three boards and a career-best six assists in a 92-78 semifinal setback to host Western Connecticut State University. She also tallied three points, three rebounds and four assists in a 69-54 consolation round loss to William Paterson University.
Through eight games this season, Dziadyk is averaging 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 18.5 minutes per game while shooting 43.6% (17-39) from the floor and 40% (10-25) from behind the arc.
Dziadyk also garnered MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on December 10th.
The BSU women’s basketball team is currently 3-8 on season. The Bears travel to UMass Boston on Thursday evening for a 5:30 game with the Beacons.
