Elisha Homich Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior guard Elisha Homich has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week.  Homich shares the weekly honor along with Worcester State senior center Meghan O'Keefe.

A native of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Homich averaged 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in a perfect 3-0 week for the Bears.  She also captured MVP honors at the Williams Holiday Classic.

Homich registered 15 points and six boards in 67-55 victory over Bates and added 17 points and three assists in 61-60 triumph at 22nd-ranked Williams to capture the Holiday Classic title.  Earlier in the week, she notched 13 points, four rebounds, six assists and a pair of steals in a 69-55 road win over UMass Dartmouth.

In six games this season, Homich is averaging 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 30.3% (10-for-33) from behind the arc and 75.9% (22-for-29) at the charity stripe.  She ranks fourth in the MASCAC in assists, sixth in free throw percentage and eighth in both three-point shooting and minutes played (31.7 mpg).

Homich has amassed 501 points, 180 rebounds, 183 assists and 125 steals over 58 games for the Bears since arriving in 2009.  She has drained three-pointers at a 37.4% clip over the course of her career knocking down 64 trifectas in 171 attempts.

The Bridgewater State women's basketball team is 5-1 on the young season and will travel to Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday night (7:00) to take on the Colonials. The Bears will then entertain Tufts University in their first home game of the season on Saturday afternoon at one.
