BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior guard Michaela Cosby has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Cosby earned Most Valuable Player honors at the season-opening Maine Maritime Mariner Classic this past weekend as she helped lead Bridgewater State to the tournament championship.  The Walpole, Massachusetts native averaged 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Bears posted a pair of wins over Colby College and host Maine Maritime Academy.

Cosby recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards in Bridgewater’s 61-60 opening round win over Colby, and added 12 points, eight boards, six assists and three steals in a 68-48 championship game victory over Maine Maritime.

An All-MASCAC First Team selection in 2011-2012, Cosby has amassed 750 points, 441 rebounds, 187 assists, 159 steals and 41 blocked shots over 78 career games.  The Bears’ captured back-to-back MASCAC Tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament during her sophomore and junior seasons.
