BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore pitcher Amber White has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week. White shares the weekly honor along with Worcester State junior Hannah Everson.
A native of Middleboro, Massachusetts, White went 3-0 in three appearances for the Bears last week with a 1.27 earned run average. She fanned 23 batters and did not walk anyone in 22 innings of work.
White struck out 11 in an 8-1 MASCAC win over Mass. Maritime and fanned seven in a 5-1 eight-inning victory over UMass Dartmouth. She also out-dueled Salem State’s Alyssa Bryan in a 3-2 decision over the Vikings, striking out five.
In 26 appearances for the Bears this season which includes 20 starts, White is 15-5 with three saves, 17 complete games, five shutouts and a 1.66 earned run average. She has 120 strikeouts against just 33 walks in 139 innings, and opponents are batting just .202 against her.
Heading into this week’s MASCAC Tournament, White leads the conference in both saves and wins. She is also second in the league in ERA, innings pitched, appearances, games started, shutouts and complete games, and ranks third in batting average against and fifth in strikeouts.
Bridgewater (28-11, 11-3 MASCAC) is the second seed in the conference tournament which gets underway with first round action on Thursday. The Bears will host third-seeded Salem State on Thursday afternoon at four.
