Jasmyn McCone Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore designated player Jasmyn McCone has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, McCone batted .476 (10-21) with four doubles, two triples, eight runs scored and five RBI in a 5-1 week for the Bears which included MASCAC sweeps of Mass. Maritime and Salem State.

McCone went 5-for-6 with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored and three RBI in a pair of wins over the Buccaneers, and was 3-for-7 at the plate with a double and two runs in a non-conference split with UMass Dartmouth.  She also doubled, tripled, scored a pair of runs and drove in two in the Bears' sweep of the Vikings.

In 39 games this season, McCone is batting .280 (26-93) with two home runs, five doubles, two triples, 23 runs and 17 RBI.   She is tied for ninth in the MASCAC in triples and tied for tenth in home runs.

Bridgewater (28-11, 11-3 MASCAC) is the second seed in this week’s MASCAC Tournament which gets underway with first round action on Thursday.  The Bears will host third-seeded Salem State on Thursday afternoon at four.
