BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior right-hander Meghan Dunn has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Co-Pitcher of the Week. Dunn shares the weekly honor along with Westfield State senior Madeline Tomich.
A native of Colchester, Connecticut, Dunn went 3-0 in the circle for the Bears last week with three complete games. She struck out 11 batters and posted an impressive 0.35 earned run average in 20 innings of work.
Dunn tossed a four hit shutout and fanned five in a 3-0 victory over MASCAC foe Westfield State, and gave up one run on five hits with 5 K's in a 10-1 conference road win at Framingham State. She also allowed just one unearned run and scattered eight hits in an 8-1 triumph at Rhode Island College.
In 14 appearances this season, Dunn is 8-4 with a pair of shutouts and a save. She has recorded 46 strikeouts and a 2.69 ERA in 70 1/3 innings.
Dunn currently ranks third in the MASCAC in wins, fourth in appearances and innings pitched, fifth in ERA, and ninth in strikeouts. She is also tied for second in the league in games started and tied for third in shutouts.
In 60 appearances over three seasons with the Bears, Dunn has produced a record of 27-18 with 177 strikeouts and a 2.84 earned run average in 308 innings.
The BSU softball team is presently 17-7 on the season and tied for first in the MASCAC standings with a 3-1 league record. The Bears travel to Nichols College for a non-conference twinbill with the Bison on Tuesday afternoon at three.
