Avery Bouchard Named MASCAC Runner of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior Avery Bouchard has been selected as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic over the weekend.

Bouchard place third overall at the highly competitive meet, covering the 8k course in a time of 26:29.  He finished behind meet champion Edgar Kosgey (25:48) of host Williams and Ethan Shaw (26:25) of Division I Dartmouth College. Kosgey captured the New England Division III individual title last season and also placed 36th out of 280 runners at the NCAA Division III Championships a year ago.

A native of Fall River, Massachusetts, Bouchard has run very well in BSC's first two meets as he also placed 15th (25:29) at the five-mile UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 20th.

As a sophomore in 2005, Bouchard advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships finishing 69th overall in a field of the nation's top 215 Division III harriers.
