BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State College senior Avery Bouchard has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
A native of Fall River, Massachusetts, Bouchard was the top individual MASCAC performer on Saturday afternoon at the 2008 New England Alliance Men's Cross Country Championships held at Stanley Park in Westfield. The MASCAC Runner of the year posted a time of 25:50 even over the 8K layout to finish in third place, nine seconds behind Southern Maine junior Tyler Jasud for top honors.
Bouchard, who was one of just four MASCAC individuals to earn All-Alliance accolades, helped BSC post a sixth place finish at the event.
As a sophomore in 2005, Bouchard advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships finishing 69th overall in a field of the nation's top 215 Division III runners.
The Bears will compete in the New England Division III Championships hosted by Williams College on Saturday, November 15th.
