On the men's side, the Bears, without a single senior athlete, took 21st place out of 31 teams led by junior co-captain Brian Stewart (Scituate, MA). Stewart was the first BSC runner across the line in a time of 27:09, setting a personal record on the UMass course by over a minute while placing 77th out of 225 varsity runners. Next across was freshman Lowell Chumsae (Shrewsbury, MA) in a time of 27:24, showing plenty of promise for the men of Bridgewater. The other junior co-captain, Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA), was the 3rd BSC runner across the finish line in a time of 28:25, also a personal best.
Rounding out scoring for the men were freshmen Dan Slyne (Holliston, MA) and Stevie Matthews (Wareham, MA). The men of Trinity College were meet champions with 55 points, putting four men in the top 10. The overall winner was defending regional champion and senior All-American Hunter Norte of Trinity in a time of 24:46. The Bears will compete next weekend at the Ray Dwyer Invitational hosted by Rhode Island College at Goddard Park in Warwick, RI.
