BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior Jesse Gotlib has been selected as the Little East Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while freshman teammate Alex McGannon earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors.

Gotlib, who hails from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, posted a 6-1, 6-1 straight set victory at second singles in the Bears’ season-opening 8-1 triumph over Anna Maria College this past weekend.  He also teamed with sophomore Wesley Esthimer (Franklin, Mass.) for an 8-3 decision at the top doubles flight in the win over the AMCATS.

McGannon was impressive in his collegiate debut, earning a straight-set win over his opponent from Anna Maria at fifth-flight singles.  The Fairhaven, Massachusetts product did not drop a game, posting a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Last season, his first with the Bears, Gotlib went 9-6 rotating between the fifth and sixth singles flights as he helped lead the men’s tennis team to a 9-6 record and a 4-2 mark in the Little East.  He also paired with Sean Bleau (North Dighton, Mass.) for a 6-6 record in doubles play with a 5-5 mark at the second flight.
