BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman defender Kolin Campbell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year by the league's head coaches.

Campbell played in 15 games and made 14 starts in his rookie campaign despite missing four games due to injury.  The Norton, Massachusetts native helped the Bears notch three shutouts and post a 1.38 goals against average in the 15 games he appeared in.

"Kolin is a player you enjoy coaching," noted BSU Head Coach Brendan Adams. "He has an amazing work ethic and a great will to win."

"It's great to see Kolin get recognized by other coaches in the league for his ability," Adams added, "and I am excited to watch Kolin improve throughout his BSU career."

Campbell is the Bears' first conference Rookie of the Year since teammate Simao Mendes (Brockton, Mass.) in 2009.

The BSU men's soccer team posted an overall record of 9-9-1 in 2012 with a 3-3-1 mark in MASCAC play. Seeded fourth at the conference tournament, the Bears earned a 2-1 victory over #5 Worcester State in the quarterfinals, before dropping a 3-1 decision to top-seeded Salem State in the semifinal round.
