White, Vercollone Selected to Play in NEISL Senior All-Star Game

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior defenders Mike White (Canton, Mass.) and Mark Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) have been selected to play in the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Division III Senior All-Star Game which will take place at Harvard Stadium on Sunday, November 28th at 1:00 PM.

This marks the first time in men's soccer program history that the Bears have had more than one player selected to compete in the all-star game.

White and Vercollone were the backbone of a defensive unit that helped Bridgewater post a 1.45 team goals against average as well as five shutouts.

In 19 starts this past season, White tallied a goal and two assists for four points and was named to the All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer First Team.  All told, he registered a goal and six assists for eight points in 65 games over four seasons at Bridgewater. White also appeared in two games in goal for the Bears in 2007 and 2008, posting a 2.00 goals against average with ten saves and a shutout.

Vercollone, who transferred to Bridgewater State prior to the 2009 campaign, started 35 games over two seasons at BSU and recorded three assists.  He started all 19 games for the Bears in 2010 and dished out a pair of assists.

The BSU men's soccer team posted an overall record of 13-6 this past season including a 5-2 mark in MASCAC play.  Seeded second in the conference tournament, Bridgewater dropped a 2-1 decision in double overtime to conference champion Salem State University in the semifinals.

Following the MASCAC Tournament, Bridgewater was selected as the top seed for the ECAC Division III New England Championships.  After posting a 3-2 double overtime win over Lesley University in the quarterfinal round, the Bears lost to eventual champion Brandeis University, 3-0, in the tournament semifinals.
