Quick Facts about the Basketball Program

Head Coach Joe Farroba has won more conference games than any other head coach in the history of the Massachusetts State Athletic Conference {MASCAC}!

Coach Farroba also became the all-time winningest basketball coach in Bridgewater State College history in 2004; and he continues to add on to that victory total!

We have improved our winning % each season for the last 6 years.  That means, since 2001, every player that has come through the program wins more than the year before -- every year.

Team accomplishments for 2007 - 2008:
There are 412 Mens Basketball teams in Division-III this year and Bridgewater State is ranked in the top 100 in theses statistics:
  •      Team Offense

  •      FG%

  •     Assists per game

  •     Blocked Shots per game

  •     Steals per game

We have had games televised and broadcast over the internet in past years, but we are one of the first in the country to have all of our home games broadcast live over the internet.

 Team accomplishments for 2006 2007:

We were picked by Street and Smith Magazine as one of the top D-3 teams in the country.  In its annual College Basketball Yearbook, they have a Division III section; in that section they rank the Top 10 teams, plus list the next 30 breakthrough teams in the country.  We were in that group putting us in the Top 40 of the country.

We finished the season with our best winning % in 24 years.

We are one of only two teams in the conference to advance as far as the MASCAC Tournament Semi-Finals the past SIX years in a row.

We also had most of our home games televised last year. Admittedly not on ESPN, but how many D-III colleges are televised at all?

  • Team accomplishments for 2005 2006:

  • We are the 2005 - 2006 MASCAC Tournament Champions, as well as being selected to the 2006 NCAA Division III Mens Basketball Tournament.

  •  There were 397 teams in D-III that year, and only 59 go to the tournament.

  • We became the first team in New England to have a game broadcast Live over the internet.  This has become more common in recent years, but we were the ground breaking team that did it first.

Some other things to Think About

  • Coach Farroba has been the Head Coach for 15 seasons

(Plus 5 more before that as the top assistant)

  • Coach Donovan has been an assistant for 10 seasons

  • Coach O'C has been an assistant for 6 seasons

In 2007 - 2008, we will have 12 players returning to the roster.  Last year we had 11 returning players on our roster. For 2005 - 2006, we had 8 players return from the previous year, and the year before that we had 12 returning players.

Do the other colleges you are considering have that type of stability or has there been a revolving door of players and coaches over the years?

Will the teams you are considering be what you expected come next fall or will they look completely different by the time you arrive on campus?

We are extremely loyal to our players during their time on the team and even well after they have graduated.  Each year we host an alumni day where 20 - 25 former players return to campus for the day.  Some graduated just a year or two ago, some graduated 10-15 years ago, and everything in between.  They all come back every year to see their former teammates and to see the current team play.

At Bridgewater you will be a member of a Program and extended family, not simply a group of individuals that are together for only a few months.
