BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior right tackle Mike D’Attilio has been selected to the 2012 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team.

D’Attilio is one of eight players from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) named to the Division II/III All-New England squad.  The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 6th, at the Montvale Plaza, in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

A native of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, D’Attilio anchored an outstanding offensive line which paved the way for 2,456 rushing yards and 4,095 yards of total offense in 2012. Bridgewater ranked 35th in all of Division III with 223.3 rushing yards per game, and the Bears also recorded 235 first downs and 780 total offensive play, the second highest single-season totals in program history.

The 2012 BSU football team posted a record of 9-2 with a 6-1 mark in NEFC Bogan Division play.  The nine wins marked the most since the 2005 season when the team finished 9-1.  The Bears advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third time in program history and first since 2000.

Earlier this month, D’Attilio was voted to the NEFC All-Bogan Division First Team after garnering second team honors as a junior in 2011.  He was also selected as the Bogan Division Offensive Lineman of the Year.

A four-year letterwinner for the Bears, D’Attilio appeared in 39 career games at tackle.  He cracked the starting lineup in week five of his freshman season of 2009 and started 36 games while missing just one due to injury. The BSU offense averaged 226.5 yards rushing and 341.3 yards of total offense since the start of the 2009 season.
