BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University second baseman Sean Riley has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week.
Riley batted .341 (15-44) with seven doubles, a pair of triples, ten runs scored and 11 RBI to go along with five walks and four stolen bases over the first 13 games of the season. The Fairhaven, Massachusetts product also produced a .591 slugging percentage and a .412 on base percentage.
Riley went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a stolen base, two runs scored and a pair of RBI in an 11-5 win over Northwestern College during the Bears’ Spring Break trip to Vero Beach, Florida. He also went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a stolen base, three runs and five RBI in a 13-4 triumph over Penn State Brandywine, and 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run scored and two driven in during a 10-3 victory over Penn State Fayette.
A junior transfer, Riley played two seasons at Division II Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida from 2004 to 2005. He comes to BSU after playing mostly recently with the Easton Huskies of the amateur Cranberry Baseball League.
The Bridgewater State baseball team is presently 6-7 on the season. The Bears travel to Brandeis University on Tuesday afternoon (3:00) before returning home to take on Suffolk University on Thursday (3:00).
